‘CINDERELLA’S SERIES’ ANNA TER HAAR
Anna’s work for the Bernadine de Neeveprijs is a follow-up on the Cinderella’s chair, a serie of chairs with glass legs, like a prothese, custom-made for each kind of chair. The Cinderella’s series is about the tension that evolves when you use glass in a structural way, like Cinderella’s glass shoe.
The glass is sturdy enough to carry the weight, so you can even sit on the chair, something you would not expect.
In the work Anna made for the Bernadine de Neeveprijs, this tension is evidently present.
The chair in the Enlightenment exhibition also uses tension as a tool. It’s held together by a big glass bubble where the armrests lean on.
Together with the chair comes an installation of several glass bubbles by means of an experiment. These experiments show how glass moves when it is still liquid.
